This image from Elle Decor keeps popping into my mind since I originally posted it about a year ago:

I love everything about this room; the cool blue walls, the slightly deeper blue moldings, the natural textiles, not to mention the lantern in the ceiling. But this post is about another element in this room; the glass box in the back. Isn’t it a neat display? Or would you rather it be filled with water and colorful fishes?

Found these simple glass boxes at Pottery Barn a few weeks ago and I just love them. It’s like the glass bell, version 2.0.

You can create a tiny museum exhibition in your living room with these glass boxes! Too bad they are no longer available on Pottery Barn’s website =( Anyone know where to get similar glass display boxes?

  1. The glass boxes are really cute, a nice idea and a really god way to display your favourite products.

  2. I just did something similar to this with my wedding stuff! I put my dried bouquet, invitation, and some other things in a football display case. I couldn’t find a box like you had on here. But I got the display case at Hobby Lobby.

  3. We used to use these for displays when I worked for a large department store…I loved the idea so much and only ever got around to getting the stands made for myself but never the glass case.
I would think your local glazier would be able to make them up for you fairly cheaply.

  4. They’re great! I have a source for glass covered specimen cases (see below) but not for boxes.

  5. These are lovely and would elevate whatever you put in them.

  6. I love these glass boxes, they make their contents seem more important than they probably really are!! And I think they appeal to our science-y side too, don’t you think? There’s a nice example of a glass box on a dresser on Tobi Fairley’s website, I’ll try to find it and send it to you. Love this trend!!

  7. I love the look too! It’s a shame Pottery Barn got rid of theirs! :(

I’m also interested! I need something relatively cheap so I can use these for my wedding as decor!

Please let me know if you hear anything! Seasidesmitten@aol.com

  8. Called all the Pottery Barns stores today looking for the large glass box. No luck! Very disappointing. Bought the smaller one this spring to display my sand and shells from Maui. Need the larger one for my finds for Sedona, AZ. If anyone knows where to find a box very similar to this please let me know

    Thank you.

  11. I just found “The Ivy Cottage” blog today. On there, Amanda was talking about using tempered glass that is 12×12 for using as chargers on your table. (They are the perfect size for a piece of scrapbook paper underneath, so you can update your chargers inexpensively whenever you want.) She included this link: http://www.storesupply.com/pc-12926-1123-12-x-12-x-316-tempered-glass-panels-67111.aspx (Store Supply Warehouse)

When you go there, you can order this: “Create beautiful Glass Cube Units with these 12″ x 12″ x 3/16″ Tempered Glass Panels. Each panel has smooth, polished edges and can be connected with other panels using 3-Way Add-A-Shelf Clips. SSW ItemNo 67-111″ This size panel is only $2.26 each.

    Amanda’s blog link is: http://theivycottageblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/last-chargers-youll-ever-buy.html

(Disclaimer: I have no connection with either of these sites. I’m just passing on info I thought might be interesting to you and your readers.)
