AT HOME IN ARKANSAS / I.O METRO (FURNISHINGS) / RETT PEEK (PHOTOGRAPHY)

I’m so in love with this gorgeous home featured in At Home In Arkansas. All furnishings are provided by I.O Metro, a furniture and home accents store I’d never heard of until today (but I’m already a fan!). This home  is all about casual elegance, achieved by mixing designer classics with natural elements and textures. A rich shade of gray sets the scene, while heavy doses of white creates clean contrast. Tiny and well placed doses of brown  adds depth to the room, while a  muddy yellow provides just the right amount of sunshine and happiness.

The visually heavy bamboo blinds are juxtaposed by sheer white drapes. So simple and elegant.

The table is decorated with corals, a wooden bird sculpture and a vase of beautiful pink ranunculus. Using stacks of books is one of my absolute favorite tricks for adding height to individual elements when creating a vignette or tablescape. Do you ever use books this way?

You can’t go wrong with a glossy white pair of Frances Elkin loop chairs. The organic white shapes makes such a wonderful contrast against the black window frames.

The vignette on this half moon table is all about natural elements, including beach sand, shells, a wooden bird sculpture and a wild fern. The way it’s all displayed makes it so interesting and pretty to look at. Notice how the shells are individually displayed on little acrylic stands.

A quick search lead me to Seashell World, which carry these little babies =)

Another view of the living room. To the right is the open kitchen, which is just as beautiful as the living room.

I really like how they kept the basic color palette for the kitchen part of this room, but omitted the yellow, to create two distinct areas by color.

The stemmed vase with palm leafs is another great example of simple yet powerful (visually that is) decoration.

It’s not often I fall for kitchens, but this one I really love. Are you feeling it too? Hope you enjoyed this, and hop on over to At Home in Arkansas for more eye candy =)

  4. I love grey – it looks amazing with any other colour. Beautiful house – love the coastal elements, especially the wood birds. And the chairs & bench at the kitchen island are fabulous. The backsplash tiles are pretty cool too :-)

  5. Love the beachy touches. Pillows really pop. And the idea of shell stands is kind of neat too!

  6. What a beautiful laid back beachy retreat! Not short of style either :)
