A clean color palette of brown and white is a sure hit if you are aiming for a elegant and sophisticated look in your home. The point is proven in this beautiful living room designed by Kelly Proxmire.

With such a simple color palette, the details are all the more important. White molding creates depth not only on the ceiling, but also on furniture and doors. Notice how Kelly combines damask fabrics with chevron and dots in the next photo:

The deep rich paint color is such a wonderful backdrop for curvy white furniture like this, don’t you think? I really see the gorgeous details in the ceiling as the icing on the cake. Such a delightful detail.

  1. I’ve done a number of rooms recently with silver coach lines on the ceiling (I do a lot of ceilings), it’s such a nice, subtle touch.
I love the room but would want just a touch of another colour in there.

  2. Oh that is a beautiful little touch on the ceiling. Really does finish it off. I agree with Lesley Anne that a little hit of turquoise, pink or orange would be wonderful!

  3. Such an elegant palette! I like the way fabrics and shapes combine. Beautiful post! XoXo

  4. Oh the inspiration. My kitchen and dining has this feature colour and I am thinking my bedroom needs, not just one wall but all 4. Always great to have photo evidence to convince husbands. Thanks lovely.

  9. I love this palette, I think I especially love it because it gives the same strong & sophisticated look as black and white does. Very pretty room, and a perfect example!!
