Contrast for Harmony: Janet Rice’s Amazing Home

Happy New Year! I’ve been blessed with a serious case of the flu, and have been knocked out for over 2 weeks. After spending way too much time on the sofa I finally feel up to sharing one of the best homes I’ve ever had the pleasure of viewing:
*
I am of course referring to the jaw-dropping home of Janet Rice. Janet’s home is designed around the timeless color palette of white and black. White textured objects like mineral crystals, corals and bouquets of white roses adds depth and dimension to the white walls. Black provides contrast while shiny chrome surfaces adds a touch of modern glamour.
*
Janet uses plaster ceiling medallions on walls and doors. This traditional finery stands in contrast to the minimalistic color palette, and the result is strikingly beautiful, don’t you think?
*
Keeping the black and white color palette flowing throughout her home, Janet opted for a bold black and white wallpaper. The floral pattern and pops of light pink transforms this room into a feminine haven, complete with a 1960′s style glass rod chandelier.
*
JANET RICE INTERIORS / FURNITURE
Notice how this room, as opposed to the dining room, is created around a white-on-black color palette. The difference in the two color strategies is striking. Black-on-white looks cleaner and stricter, perhaps more masculine, while white on black conveys a more feminine look.
*
Details, details…
*
JANET RICE INTERIORS / WALLPAPER
Janet covered her foyer in the Bergius Cloud from the Linnaeus Wallcoverings collection. If you follow the link to the the Designers Guild website (above) you will see that the original wallpaper design actually has a vertical line between the blue pattern units. You can also see these lines on Janet’s side walls in the pic above. So, is it possible she actually cut away the lines before putting up the wallpaper? If so, that’s beyond! No detail escapes this woman!
*
The eat-in kitchen is adored in marble. Got amazing china? Show it off with glass front cabinet doors.
*
More evidence of Janet’s attention to detail; kitchen soap on a silver tray. That’s too fab!
*
Her bedroom is amazing, I love the pale greens and that curvy headboard. So feminine and delicate.
*
Even the pulls are exquisite. For more loveliness, take a look into the portfolio of Janet Rice Interiors, you won’t regret it, I promise <3

Very striking decor. You can’t ignore black and white can you? I loved the blue chairs in the kitchen area. You always find such great interiors!

I’m so in love! Strange, I normally don’t like black and white for interiors, but I think the different textures and patterns make it look amazing.

Janet has a beautiful home. I love how she’s used ceiling medallions as wall art. The texture from the white-on-white layering is great. Love the striped arm chair in living room.

Beautiful – I love black and white interiors. I just can’t seem to do it in my own home though. Maybe one room will get the treatment. Thanks for giving us this inspiring home – makes me want to do it!!
