Look for Less: Koi Wallpaper

I’ve had a lot of questions about this koi wallpaper in the lovely powder room featured in this post. The wallpaper is obviously hand painted, which you can tell when there is no pattern repeat. I believe it’s from de Gournay (please correct me if I’m wrong), which means most of us can’t afford it.

Luckily I came across a more affordable version on Wallpaper Direct. What do you think? Is this a good alternative, or does the pattern repeat ruin the charm?

At first glance it looks fabulous! I see how the repeat can make it look less costly but I think if you haven’t seen the first you would never know. It’s very soothing.

The hand-painted paper does have a charm to it that the second one doesn’t quite have, but both are stunning.

I don’t think anyone except the owner – and perhaps a few of us bloggers – would ever even notice the repeat and the rest of the guests in the room would really love the feeling it gives off…great substitute!

I like the printed one better! I could do without the repeat, but I think the fish are much prettier.

Gorgeous! And Barbara is right I think most people would not notice the repeat, just us design crazies…
