I found this beautiful photo on HGTV and thought it was worth sharing. Such a calm color palette, with layers of beautiful fabrics with a metallic sheen to it. Hope you like it too =)

Whenever I hear the name Mary McDonald, words like grand, bold, opulence and regency come to my mind.  Just take a look at Mary’s own bedroom:

Isn’t it fabulous? Dramatic colors, heavy drapery and bold patterns.

*

My favorite aspect of Mary’s bedroom is the great and highly affordable framework of the room. See the fabulous carpeting? The bold pattern is obviously painted right on there. The second to-die-for part of this bedroom is the molding. A trip to your local hardware store and a bit of practice with the angle saw, this room should be pretty affordable to emulate (although the original is anything but affordable ;)

Get the look with BM Mariner Blue, a healthy dose of crisp white and pops of pale pinks. And don’t forget to add some glamour with gold details.

Let’s take a look at some of the works of NYC photographer Francesco Lagnese:

modern chic blue and white living room with chandelier

This living room reminds me so much of this one I featured a little while ago. Must be the white walls, blue leather sofas and beige area rug. I can’t recall ever seeing hardwood floors painted blue before. I think I like it.

modern chic white and blue living room

So many fun details in this room. Have you ever seen a chandelier wrapped up like that? The focal point of this room is definitely the grand venetian mirror above the two half sofas.

romantic white and pink bathroom

A pretty bathroom. I just love the atmosphere and colors in this photo.

*

white and blue romantic dining room

I couldn’t help but notice how the stylist loves placing one item under each table.

*

romantic blue and pink tablesetting

Just another pretty picture. Blue and pink table decoration.

*

white entryway hallway decoration

Looks like a jungle mural in the stairway. What do you think about the light blue floors?

See more of Francesco’s work here, and make sure you read the “about”, it’s the most creative one I’ve ever come across.

Have you ever wondered where your favorite designers go to find the amazing fabrics they use in their designs? Actually, I know a lot of you do, as I get fabric inquiries all the time. For those of you that haven’t heard of Quadrille Fabrics, prepare for some serious eye candy:

*

quadrille fabrics

Quadrille offer both wallpapers and fabrics, along with outdoor versions of many of their fabrics. The wallpaper in the image above is Trellis Background in the colorway “Orange on Tint” and the blue fabric is called Lyford Background in the colorway dark “Turquoise on White”, both from their China Seas collection.

*

These curtains are called Paradise Background from Quadrille’s own line. The colorway is called “Orange on Tint”. The bedroom is designed by Kendall Wilkinson and shot for Traditional Home. This bedroom is so colorful and fun, and the structured valances makes me think of a circus. You can see more photos of this room in my previous post. You’ll notice that the walls in this bedroom isn’t actually turquoise, but blue!

*

The blinds in this traditional modern living room is Abaco Stripe from their China Seas line in the “Turquoise and Beige” colorway. You can’t really see it in the image above, but the designer picked the yellowish beige from the fabric and used it on the ottoman coffee table. I spy cobalt blue seagrass wallpaper too. Gorgeous room indeed. This living room is photographed for House Beautiful (If anyone can tell me the name of the designer and photographer I’d love to know ;)

*

I bet most of you recognize this gorgeous table setting by designed by Eddie Ross. The fabric is Kazak by Quadrille in the colorway “Orange pale Magenta on Tint”. I adore how Eddie added turquoise into this equation, and the extensive use of brass makes me think of Arabian Nights with magic lamps and flying carpets. Notice how Eddie used the Kazak fabric as multiple runners instead of one single tablecloth. It’s the most stunning table setting I’ve seen in a long time. I have to add that Eddie’s blog is a must-read too!

“Turquoise on Tint”  San Marco wallpaper from Quadrille’s China Seas collection. Another happy color combination of turquoise and coral in this dining room designed by Ashley Whittaker and shot by Eric Piacecki for House Beautiful. The tiny vibrant pattern of the wallcoverings and the graphic pattern of the diamond jute rug sets a perfect backdrop for the monochromatic upholsteries of the drapes and dining chairs.

Hope you found some inspiration in these images, have a great weekend everyone!

I just had to share this fantastic tip I got from Austin Handler. Austin is one half of the design duo Mabley Handler Interior Design and he and his wife Jennifer Mabley also writes the blog “Designing the Hamptons“. The bedroom below is one of their designs:

*

Isn’t it just stunning? Mabley Handler Interior Design is known for their classically beautiful and timeless design style. I love how they brought nature into this bedroom with the two potted trees. Which brings me back to the tip he gave me; see the beautiful framed seafans above the bed? Well they are made by Karen Robertson:

*

Karen frames natural elements like butterflies, seafans, shells and sea stars.

*

And there you have my latest obsession; shadowboxes. In particular the double framed ones, with a glass back like these that Karen makes.

*

Don’t worry fellow animal lovers, the turtle shell is hand made ;)

*

I couldn’t resist making my own version of the double framed butterfly. Luckily I remembered to take some action shots (haha!) so I’ll post the instructions for you tomorrow if you want one too =) It’s not Karen Robertson caliber by any means, but it turned out nice even so. FYI it doesn’t involve real butterflies, but it looks very realistic. See a teaser pic here!

Another chic blue and white living room to inspire you. I love the color palette in this room, denim blue, lots of crisp white and a subtle butter yellow and hot pink! I must admit that butter yellow is one of my least favorite colors, but I think it looks great in this combinatin (maybe because it’s less of it?).
