ANA ANTUNES

I’m absolutely head over heels over for designer Ana Antunes’ amazing home. It’s light and modern, and chock full of amazing vignettes! What’s not to love about that?

We bought a new camera a few weeks ago, so now I can finally share some of my DIY’s! First up: a dresser I bought at a goodwill store. This is what it looked like when I brought it home:

*

pink chest

Not so pretty. But it is solid wood and has a lovely classic shape and long legs, which I love.

*

I needed it to be a light color that didn’t stand out too much, so I chose one that had the same undertone as my walls. The detailsĀ  are wooden sticks that I picked out of a bamboo place mat (!). I started by drawing the pattern on the front and sides with a pencil, then glued each stick on with regular wood glue. Tape held the sticks in place until the glue way completely dry.

*

Using my fingers, I added spackle to smooth out the edges of the sticks.

*

When the spackle was completely dry, I sanded it down with fine grain sand paper.

*

The plan included another coat of paint, but for now I like the crude look of the plaster. The pulls I got for free at a flea market about to close, I screwed them off of another dresser. What do you think?

HTHcute romantic bedroom light blue green with swan wallpaper (1)

image via House to Home

This ultra feminine bedroom is based around a beautiful baby blue swan wallpaper. The same swan print, albeit in a different color scheme, is used on the upholstered screen. The decorator obviously knows a thing or two about mixing different patterns together. Notice how all the patterns in this bedroom are related in both theme and color.

To the right of the bed is a pretty vintage bench which is painted white and upholstered in Nina Campbell’s Orchard Blossom Fabric.

color palette blue gray green pink white

The color palette of this bedroom is all based on the pastel colors of the wallcovering. Both the wallpaper and the fabric come in other color schemes, below is an example of the more muted color version of the wallpaper, like the one used on the upholstered screen in the first image.

The fabric is Nina Campbell‘s Swan Lake carried by Osbourne and Little. What do you think? Could you see yourself using this wallpaper in your home? If you could, what room would it be? I’m going with yes and bedroom or dining room =)

Okay this is officially pastel week at theLENNOXX. Take a look at this yummy turquoise, white and black living room:

turquoise white black moder chic living room

According to Supreme designer Dianne Ross where I discovered this little gem, the wallpaper was once available at York Wallcoverings. I scoured their wallpapers (twice might I add) and could only find other color alternatives.

Benjamin Moore Cool Aqua looks to be a good paint alternative. I have a suspicion this color would look way dark in an ill lit room, but super fab in a room with as much daylight as this one. If you remember this post where I wrote about the importance of white in the blue/yellow relationship, I will argue that this also holds for turquoise. Have you ever noticed that a turquoise room looks either super fantastic or simply horrifying? The latter is always due to the lack of white (in my opinion)! If you don’t believe me, google “turquoise room”! And if you disagree, don’t be afraid to set me straight ;)

For the longest time I’ve been obsessed with neutral colors like beige (especially beige) and now I just crave bright colors. So expect some colorful interiors on here in the near future ;)

pastel modern chic living room turquoise sofa couch

This living room by Horchow totally satisfies my craving (for a short wile). I could do without he bulky leather sofa, but the powder blue color is gorgeous, especially combined with the mint green coffee table and old pink lamp. You did notice the fabulous wall detail, right? What about the subtle zebra print rug?
