Most of you have probably seen the beautiful home of Lisa Martensen already, but as I always say; revisiting a beautiful space never hurts ;)

Lisa is one half of the extremely talented design duo Martensen Jones. According to an interview she did with D Magazine, Lisa is quite the collector. That probably helps to explain her very interesting home. It’s full of beautiful objects she has collected from around the world, high end mixed with thrifts store gems. It’s layered and interesting, and edited to perfection.

Lisa confesses to be a huge fan of anything plaster. Just look at that marvelous stone table. I also adore the color palette in this dining room, kind of an understated boldness.

Even though most of the walls in her family room are covered in windows, Lisa still manages to display artwork by placing them in little easles.

Lisa sure knows how to decorate her bookcase, here displaying her books along with her collectibles. If you missed it, you can get a few tips on how to decorate your bookcase here ;)

Lisa’s bedroom is so beautiful and glamorous. Yet another proof that gray and beige can be mixed (see first proof here).

I love detail shots like these, don’t you? So much inspiration in the details.

I spy Jonathan Adler’s Greek Key wallpaper.

Lisa’s bathroom is exceptionally beautiful, with cream white walls and marble counter tops and hexagonal tiles (which I professed my love for in this earlier post).

The sconces screams luxury. They are designed by Eric Cohler, we covered them earlier here ;)

I can’t help thinking of Pottery Barn’s Bevel Mirror when I see Lisa’s beautiful vanity. Do you think it’s the same one?

As a wonderful surprise in her light and airy home, Lisa went wild with her powder room. I just love a bold powder room!!

The wallpaper she used is called Pauline and is available at Studio Printworks in many color options.

Last but not least, daughter India’s bedroom. Her walls are hand painted muralist Jerrod Foote. That is one lucky girl!

Love how Lisa incorporated these ceramic birds into the mural.

I’ve noticed the Jacqui Console and Desk popping up in everywhere lately. I particularly loved it in Meg Braff’s home office also.

Hope you enjoyed this little house tour, and be sure to check out D Magazine to read the great interview they did with Lisa, for more details!

Glint over Glitz: JLo’s Amazing California Home

Last night I came across this gorgeous living room on Veranda.com, and (as per usual) fell madly in love. As I got to reading the interview accompanying the beautiful images, I quickly realized it belonged to the one and only Jennifer Lopez. How interesting!

Jennifer’s home is designed by Michelle Workman, and now I have yet another designer crush. Isn’t this living room amazing? Michelle based the entire home on a color palette of grays subtly infused with color.

I would definitely say this is a glamorous home. So what makes it so glamorous? I believe it starts with the subtle color scheme, brought to life through luxurious velvet and silk fabrics and contrasted with curvy black details and shiny metals. Not to mention the classic furniture with modern twists, and the huge Art Deco influence.

A simple but beautiful vignette in the background. Fresh cut pink flowers are to be found throughout the entire house.

This little brass top hat-and-cane table actually turned out to be a champagne cooler. How fun is that?

Now onto Jennifer’s drop dead gorgeous dining room. Again we see the strong influence of Art Deco in the glass console table and the beautiful powder pink wallpaper.

Tufted velvet dining chairs with nailhead trim? Yes please!

*

Art Deco inspired Tulip Damask wallpaper by Cole & Son. The gold detail really makes this wallpaper come to life, don’t you think?

Blue is the choice color for the kitchen as well. I’d love to get a closer look at the tiles, they look so shiny and pretty. I’m guessing they are shell tiles?

This dining area is just too gorgeous for words. Love everything about it. So much lovely detail, and so perfectly combined.

Another beautiful seating area. The glam factor is upped with shiny chrome details paired with glass surfaces and sleek white furniture.

Now this is what I would call a gorgeous bedroom. Light, pretty and feminine. I’d love to use this BM Home Sweet Home paint color somewhere.

*

See how perfectly the wall color is picked from the stonework on the fireplace? Not that is how it’s done right!

This is the last picture, I swear!  Hope you enjoyed another celebrity home tour, although it was the design itself which attracted me to these images, not the owner ;)

What a Nice Surprise!

April 9, 2011 in Classic, Dining room, Dramatic, Feminine, Glamorous, Hottest Designers, Living room, Luxurious, Soft and Light, White

Flipping through the latest issue of High Gloss Magazine I almost fell off the chair when I got to page 52. I immediately recognized it as one of my favorite rooms of all time, and was so excited to get to see and read more about it:

*

It’s the very home of Interior Designer Mary McGee. I just love seeing how a room changes with time, don’t you? Mary exchanged her classic brown velvet sofa for a sleeker white one, and it totally changes the feel of the room. Brown accents are now exchanged for gray and purple ones, and she also got a new coffee table.

*

I’m so pleased to see she didn’t do anything with her wonderful mirror installation; which in my opinion, is the cherry on top to this room. I have a big mirror over my sofa, and have been toying with the idea of layering a nice curved mirror over it like Mary did. Thank you for the inspiration Mary!!

*

Here’s her cozy dining area. Notice how wonderfully the white accents pop in that dark bookcase.

*

I just love how Mary carries the same basic color palette throughout her entire home, with only minor changes in accent color.

*

Click here to see and read the more about Mary’s stunning home in High Gloss Magazine! The entire issue is a must-read, trust me!
