ASHLEY WHITTAKER via THE GLAM LAMB

This beauty is one of my all-time favorite vignettes, and a long-time resident of my inspiration folder. It’s a simple symmetric vignette, but the simplicity is part of the beauty in my opinion. When every item is perfection, a simple vignette will only look well edited, right? Apart from the obvious (greek key console and gray zebra ottoman) it’s the wonderful color combination of the cobalt blue artwork and the apple green lamps that sucks me in. I’m going to create a few new vignettes in my home, so I surfed the interwebs trying to find a few pieces that would create the same appeal (while costing as little as possible of course). Here’s what I ended up with:

*

GREEN CERAMIC LAMPS / OCEAN ART PRINT / CONSOLE TABLE / ZEBRA OTTOMAN / CLAM SHELL

Total price: $792.

I’m totally crushing on that ocean art print! I think it will be mine ;-)

I also made two discoveries today, namely that a greek key console table like the one Ashely used in her vignette, would cost more than twice as much ($1775 to be exact) as the entire vignette I slapped together. The other thing I discovered is that it’s impossible to get a hold of an ottoman upholstered in gray zebra fabric.

Also, I wish we could refer to more than one ottoman as ottomen… Enjoy the rest of your day! xox Linda

TURQUOISE LA

I’m loving the fun patterns and happy color palette of this pretty bedroom. It’s the work of Vanessa De Vargas of Turquoise LA.

*

TURQUOISE LA

Vanessa is known for her striking color palettes, often using strong colors like pink or red to pop on a cool blue backdrop.  Love the quatrefoil trellis wallpaper in the bookshelf too, very eye catching!

A feminine curvy mirror takes the spotlight in this super simple, but very pretty vignette. In the office space to the right you can see another one of Vanessa’s specialties: framed fabric art. Simple to make, cost effective and very pretty =) A few sources after the jump!

LYNN MORGAN DESIGN

Well hi there! I’m super excited to share this gorgeous living room today. It’s the work of Lynn Morgan, and great work it certainly is! Starting with a neutral palette of beige and white, Lynn created an oasis of lovely blues and turquoise – and all tones, tints and shades in between. To tie the fresh accent colors to the neutral background, Lynn opted for floral and leaf print fabrics, representing both color extremes.

Viewed from this angle you can see how much depth this color combination of blues and turquoise, creates. Very visually pleasing and interesting, but calm and relaxed at the same time.

Lynn’s attention to details makes all the difference. See the shelving unit with the blue painted back? Scroll back to the former photo and see how it brightens up that corner of the room.

The sunroom showcases how wonderfully well the rich blue color works as a neutral on furniture, when paired with light and bright colors. Did you notice the same blue color was used on all the side tables in the living room? I simply love it! Do you?

Came across this lovely bedroom on Better Homes and Gardens, nice isn’t it? I just think it looks so light and casual, but with a perfect touch of glamour. The sisal area rug, bamboo mat blinds and shell chandelier are contrasted by metallic garden stools, a gorgeous sun mirror and a glass table lamp. And it’s all pulled together with the use of color.

Images via House Beautiful, photography by Victoria Pearson

I LOOOVE the living room of Melissa Warner, one part of the design trio Massucco Warner Miller. Her home was featured on House Beautiful a while ago, and I couldn’t help featuring it here in case any of you haven’t seen it yet (and If you have seen it, it doesn’t hurt seeing it again, right?)

*

It’s all about the details, and Melissa’s home is a great example of that. The blue sofa is a vintage find. Aren’t the circle pillows awesome? Adds such beautiful texture.

*

Love how she adds color in fun ways like here; through candy and peaches. Do you ever try to match what you serve with your decor? (I have to admit I sometimes do)

*

I love the shell lamp on her desk (which is skirted and has a glass top!!). Jonathan Adler has a similar lamp in his collection.

*

Melissa shares some great advice on colors in the HB interview, it’s definitely worth a read.

*

Wall color is BM Soft Chamois. Keeping the walls pale, add blues, orange and pink. Balance the bright colors with white. Be on the lookout for fun showstopping pieces and exciting patterns.

Circle Pillow, Orange Ikat Pillow, Blue Artwork, Coffee Table, Zebra Chair, Blue Table Lamp, Quarz Votive,

Beat this: that coffee table is only $504.00 at the CSN Stores! You can see the rest of Melissa’s home (her bedroom is really awesome!) and read the accompanying interview on House Beautiful.

JAN SHOWERS

I just love this golden bedroom designed by Jan Showers. Isn’t it warm and cozy? Layers and layers of fabric and beautiful details like nailhead trim and glass tops makes this bedroom look so luxurious.

*

Color palette for this room: Benjamin Moore Mysic Gold. Combine beiges, camels, browns and champagne, just make sure they all have a yellow undertone =) A hint of black ads depth and drama, while shiny gold adds the perfect touch of luxury.
