If you are a regular at theLENNOXX.com I’m sure you remember the images of a post from not long ago called “Prettiest Sunroom“. It was designed by Kelly Interior Design, just like the fabulous bedroom we’ll be looking at today.

It’s not too often we get to see black walls. Did you notice the seashell fabric on the pillows in the bed? This fabric is used throughout the room, and what’s more? Kelly built the whole room around this fabric! See how she pulled the black background of the fabric onto the walls? When opting for black walls it is of course important to use a lot of white, unless you want the room to feel like a dungeon. Kelly picked white for drapery, floors, ceiling, bedsheets and even the seating area. Accent colors are pulled right out of the fabric too.

Kelly uses black and white conscientiously to balance the color palette of the room. All large black or white surfaces are broken up and balanced by the opposite color, the white curtains lined with black details is a great example. The black seashell fabric on the right is available at Seaside Quilting Supplies.

The wall color for this color palette is BM Really Really Black.

The red coral tree on the mantel is a great focal point for this seating area. Kelly opted for perfect symmetry which is one of the best tricks to create a formal look. I love how the formality is softened up by the quirky fabric, or is it the other way round?
