Raise your hand if you haven’t seen this home office before. I’m guessing there aren’t a lot of hands in the air. Then you probably also know that this is Designer Mary McDonald‘s private home office. The feature wall is hand painted by Artist Jefferson Miles, and the classic black and white fashion photos include framed tear-outs from magazines.

Get the look with this gorgeous chinoiserie wallpaper by Sarah Hardaker. As the name implies, this wallpaper has a grand pattern, I’d love to see this one on a wall. The best thing about it is that you can order the wallpaper with any color you’d like, so as to match your wall color, for no extra cost! I never knew that was possible anywhere.

You can read more about Mary and her designs in one of 1st Dibs great Style Compass Magazines!

Mary McDonald’s Blue and Orange Dining Room

December 29, 2010 in Blue, Chic, Dining room, Hottest Designers, Modern, New Years Eve, Orange

I’ve been in love with this chic dining room designed by Mary McDonald, forever:

To my surprise (and delight) the ever so lovely Traditional Home has a feature running on this gem of a room.

Lovely Mary strikes a pose in her creation. I’m crazy about her larger-than-life approach to interior design. Always bold, and often colorful.

Head on over to Traditional Home to see the rest, including closeups of this spectacular table setting. Great inspiration if you are planning on hosting a New Years Eve party!

Opulent Blue Bedroom

December 7, 2010 in Bedroom, Blue, Bright, Budget Friendly Design, Chic, Color Palette, Dramatic, Glamorous, Hottest Designers, Luxurious, Mirror / Wall Acessory, Modern

Whenever I hear the name Mary McDonald, words like grand, bold, opulence and regency come to my mind.  Just take a look at Mary’s own bedroom:

Isn’t it fabulous? Dramatic colors, heavy drapery and bold patterns.

*

My favorite aspect of Mary’s bedroom is the great and highly affordable framework of the room. See the fabulous carpeting? The bold pattern is obviously painted right on there. The second to-die-for part of this bedroom is the molding. A trip to your local hardware store and a bit of practice with the angle saw, this room should be pretty affordable to emulate (although the original is anything but affordable ;)

Get the look with BM Mariner Blue, a healthy dose of crisp white and pops of pale pinks. And don’t forget to add some glamour with gold details.
